Anime » Cowboy Bebop » ReviewsBang Judging by the title many people have thrown this anime in the discard pile. I did, for a second, then I actually watched it. Everything about this anime is absolutely spectacular. The opening sequence is something out of a Bond movie, the shadows and the nice backgrounds. The opening scene is amazingly done, a ship flies through six rings, the ship being computer animated and the rings being classic animation. That is one of the most unique things about this show, the great combination of traditional and computer animation. It's really represented during the Swordfish II segments in which Spike flies his ship wherever he pleases, if its on ground it has some nice blur effects too. The storyline is really well done I think. After the first episode I thought that this show had no story and was all about a bounty hunter who screwed up a lot. Ballad of Fallen Angels changed that forever. After that episode I knew that this show was special, very special. It combines bounty hunter stories and those of Spike's past involving a lost love and an old friend who is now an enemy. Character wise, this series goes way farther than most anime series in developing character basis. Each character has his/her own past which is laid out for us over the series length. Black Dog Serenade is my favorite character revealing episode. Jet's past is so well done in that episode. The music, well lets just say Yoko Kanno is God. So well done, I could listen to the Real Folk Blues for hours. Rain is a great piece and fits wonderfully to the church scene in Ballad of Fallen Angels. Revolutionary anime. |
