The Forgotten Hero

By:

The sky above the battlefield bathed in crimson red
The air is filled with the smell of the rotting dead
Two armies clash too finally settle the score
A war waged like in the legends of lore
The blood of the honorable & valiant stain the field
While the entrails of the cowardly are found upon the shields

One army stands for the unconquerable light
To stand defiant against all of its enemies might
While the other stands for the enslaving darkness
To conquer its foes, to rape and oppress
The battle that will be written in the history books
Heroes idolized for the abilities, not their looks

One stands amongst his brethren of light
One who truly has unsurpassable might
Though he may be the very intelligent and strong
The world he protects thinks he is very wrong
His methods and ideas are different from the rest
People ignore him, even though he is the very best

He stands alone amongst the frenzy of battle
He sees his allies around him slaughtered like cattle
Though they fight valiantly and honorably with him
They are ignorant to him, because of his past sins
Mistakes made by the trickery of the demons of pain
They tortured his mind, to drive him insane

Once in his past he fought against his allies
Annihilating his foes, ignoring their painful cries
Though he was just a mindless fool committing these crimes
They will condemn his actions, until the end of time
Even though they will stand against him until he dies
He will save them all, to make up for his tainted lies

While the battle quickly rages into the night
This valiant knight will charge with all of his might
Screaming his battle-cry into the face of his adversaries
He remembered today was his wedding anniversary
Only one woman in the world loved him so
Because of her his will to live started to grow

His beloved goddess stood by his side to hold him close
He was glad it was he that his goddess chose
She saw the inner beauty that burned inside
Even though he tried so hard to run and hide
She looked beyond the crimes of the past
To create a love that will truly last

The knight unleashed his fury against the demons of the night
Charging forth he swore to protect the god-blessed light
The light that represented the security of his goddess
Even though in the past it warranted for his arrest
Only a strong man can forgive the sins done against him
It’s the only way to remove the horrible stain of sin

His sword and shield baptized with the blood his foes
His battle-lust and instinct for survival starts to grow
“I must return!” he screams loudly in his head
“What kind of husband would I be if I returned dead?!”
His allies see his valor as he charges into the jaws of death
They finally realized he would fight until his very last breath

Into the middle of the mass of darkness he will strike
Cutting through his foes like a huge shining spike
Finally reaching the center he sees his goal
The General of the Army, surrounded by his foes
Charging forth he literally smashes through
To take down the power of this unholy crew

Channeling his power with all of his will
To unleash a blast that will make time stand still
A shock wave of flame that only burns the darkness
To fight so hard so he could return to his goddess
Amidst the blinding flash of his blast he decides to retire
Leaving his allies blinded by the light of his fire

The battle is won…but nobody knows who ended the war
The hero was the valiant knight whom they chose to ignore
To light and burn away the darkness for the sake of humanity
Even though he went down the steps of insanity
He set the choking aura of darkness back to zero
This was the gift…of the forgotten hero
