Hold On
By:
I watch you go through all this pain; You're holding on for me. I don't want you to go away; Please hold on a little longer. If not for my sake, then for yours; They might find the help you need. Hold on a little longer. Don't leave me alone in this world; I can't live without you. Hold on a little longer. As I watch you bleed, I walk away; Praying to God that you'll stay. Please hold on for you and me. As I sit alone crying, I realize I'm being selfish. I also realize, who am I crying for? Me for losing you? Or you for suffering because of me? Hold on a little longer, I'm coming. I go to you, and hold your hand. I begin to say: "Don't hold on any longer because of me. Let go and wait for me. I'll miss you dearly, that I will, but I'll manage. I don't want you to suffer anymore. Stop holding on...not for my sake, but for yours." I watch him silently and pray for the best. Just then I felt a gentle squeeze, and hear a faint "I love you." I give him a smile and say "I love you too." Then I watch as his squeeze grows weak, and his gentle smile fades away. I pray to him: 'Thank you for not holding on any longer. Now please just wait for me.' Then once more I say "I love you."
