Shattered Innocence
By:
Where there was life, there is only death Where there was love, there is only hate The light fades, and darkness overcomes With this newfound knowledge, do you realize only now do you see the world with open eyes You thought about the meaning of it all, that thought which cast you here, at the end of your fall What you lost, you now in the world can see, and drown yourself in discord and misery. It's in the eyes of a child, to whom you give your last plea and now that you're in your hole, your only thought is to flee Where there was life, there is only death Where there was love, there is only hate The light fades, and darkness overcomes. That shell that is my heart that died long ago when I discovered the thing that has brought me so low. Now in the Bible it says " Knowledge is sorrow..." I wish the writer could have found a different phrase to borrow. With my newfound knowledge came sorrow, no longer care-free 'Cause that knowledge I found was that nothing matters, not even me All the things we do for better or for worse, will never let us be free and with that pain of loss I've found the key I had lost my innocence, From just wanting not to wallow in ignorance...
