Ebon Platemail Ring
Magical Rings
By:

This ring is always so black as to be colorless. When it is worn by a fighter only then can it's true potential be found. This ring is unidentifiable by any means other than a fighter placing it in his/her finger. Once placed upon a fighter's finger the fighter is instantly made to think of one word... this word becomes the activation word for the ring while the fighter wears it. Once activated the ring will "spread" over the fighter's entire body forming a perfect, unencumbering suit of +1 to +5 (roll d5 at first discovery) Full Plate armor. While wearing the armor the fighter is immune to all bludgeoning attacks. He/she/it also takes only 1/2 dam. from falls and impact based dam.. Also due to it's highly magical nature the ring has a % chance equal to the level of the fighter to absorb any spell cast at the fighter. If a spell is absorbed it gives the ring "points"... basically 1 point per level of the spell and every 20 points absorbed gives the armor an additional permanent +1. The hindrances to the ring are as follows... the fighter can wear NO other armor types or any magical devices that affect armor class, unless or until the ring's armor level reaches +5. Also, due to the inherent chaotic nature of the ring AL slowly changes to Chaotic (whatever you are). Finally, any light spell cast within 10' of the wearer is negated, unless it was cast first and then the wearer came into the area of effect. This item sells for 75,000 to 150,000 gold and gives EXP equal to cost when found.
