AD&D 2nd Edition » Magical ItemsManacadam Rings A matched pair of wide gold bands, each set with a large, square-cut white stone of unknown origin. Trapped within each stone is a powerful Fire Demon bound to the service of the Manacadam line. These Rings may only be used by the rightful bearer and must be worn as a pair, although only one may used at a time. They possess the following powers: a) The Rings are indestructible. b) The Rings are completely unaffected by Dispel Magic effects, Anti-magic effects, and Dead Magic Areas or effects, as well as Disintegrate effects of any sort. c) The primary power of the Ring is that it can fire blasts of mystic flame. Each blast has a range of 300 feet (halved when used over water). Each blast does 6d6+6 points of damage (halved when used over water) and may be used once per round, per ring. Each use, however, heats the inside band of the Ring which must be in perfect contact with the skin to function (so no gloves or similar protections work). The wearer suffers 1 hit point of damage for every 2 blasts of a ring, cumulative (example: Firing 8 blasts with a single ring would cause the wearer to suffer 4 hit points of damage). Dipping the Ring in water or snow, or dousing it with the same would cool the inside and restart the damage progression. |
