AD&D 2nd Edition » Magical ItemsKaldabrine's Staff of Blue Flame This staff is carved of an unknown dark grey hardwood and may be used as a weapon. On the more gnarled end of the staff, the wielder may will a brilliant blue flame to appear, which does not consume the staff or smoke, although it is very hot and causes an extra d4 fire damage if it hits a target or even touched to a target. Note that even for a touch attack, a successful to hit roll must be made. The blue fire gives off approximately 60 feet of light. Kaldabrine commissioned this staff to be constructed by a dwarf artificer in his younger days and it has served him for many years. Nowadays he rarely leaves his tower and may be interested in selling or trading it to those he likes. One curiousity is that when the old mage was a young adventurer, he found that goblin-kind seem to be irritated by the blue flame and would sometimes flee from the light or sometimes try to destroy it. |
