AD&D 2nd Edition » Magical ItemsDwarven Chainmail This Chainmail was made by Dwarves to fit Dwarves. The Chainmail is made of Mithril and weighs less than Elven Chain. Any bladed attack does only ? damage rounded UP. Any blunt attack does only ? damage rounded UP. A natural roll of 20 against the wearer causes normal damage. The craftsmanship to make armor like this is quite rare, possibly rarer than that of those that can make Elven Chain. Dwarven Chainmail takes 18 months for a Mastersmith to make. The Mastersmith would work on nothing but the Chainmail for 16 hours each day, 7 days a week to complete the set in 18 months. Beyond the time to craft the armor, the necessary amount of Mithril needs to be mined/acquired. Aspiring Mastersmiths can make the armor as well, adding 3 months per rank below Mastersmith. The deflection of damage comes from the intricate make of the armor. Each link is created to transfer the energy from the blow to the links attached to them. A set of Dwarven Chainmail is a truly great reward, comparable (better if you ask a Dwarf) to Elven Chain. |
